Why That Drywall Patch Still Shows

What makes a drywall repair blend in?
You fixed the leak. The plumber closed the wall. The hole is gone. So why can you still see the repair every time the light hits it?
For homeowners around Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, Brookfield, West Allis, and New Berlin, this is one of the most frustrating parts of drywall repair. The damaged area may be small, but making it blend into the rest of the room takes care.
First, address what caused the damage. If a stain came from a roof, window, or plumbing leak, the source needs to be fixed and the drywall needs to dry before anyone primes or paints. Otherwise, the stain may return.
Then, match the surface around the patch. A smooth repair on a textured wall will stand out. So can edges that were not blended far enough, or fresh compound painted without primer.

Finally, decide how much to paint. A touch-up can work when you have matching paint and the repair is in a less noticeable spot. If the wall has aged or the patch catches daylight, painting the full wall from corner to corner often gives a more even finish.
At A Cut Above Paint Co., we’ll look at the damage, explain what it will take to make the repair blend in, and give you a clear scope before work starts. You should know what you’re paying for and what result to expect.
